foryoua1000timesover:

The teacher was talking about giving in healthy recipes for extra bonus points in English for the new wellness centre that is getting built in our town. And someone nudged me with their elbow encouragingly and said:

”You can put some vegan recipes in.”

And this other girl said:

“Yeah you…

Quips can only go so far when compared to health fact and studies. You were good to bring those up! And like your mum, I am pissed to hear about things like this. It really just kind of boils my blood.

Things I tend to say:

“Know where I get my protein? Vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and seeds. Which, unlike your meat and cheese, have little to no fat. Oh yeah! And no cholesterol!”

“At least my bones are actually benefiting from my calcium. Know what milk does? Animal proteins leach the calcium from your bones and it’s excreted in your urine. Milk containing calcium doesn’t really matter, no does it? Have fun with all those holes. Go eat something green.”

“Did you know cholesterol only exists from animal products? Yeah, no natural, plant-based foods contain it. Huh. Would you look at that.”

“A bacon cheeseburger, huh? I see we ordered pancreatic cancer with our heart disease today. That’s very ambitious!”

  4. winter-long answered: You could talk about how most of the substances in meat are sort of counterproductive, how many anemics go vegan and are healthy again.
  5. pantlesshero answered: good luck :) you can do it!
